Is your child gifted? (Read all about GEP here.) Even if we are not sure of the answer, I am certain that you must have given some thought to the question. There can only be a handful parents who have not hoped that their children possess some special talent or ability which will help them do well in life. It’s also precisely the reason for the mad rush to sign up your child for all kinds of enrichment lessons, even for the newborns. It’s not uncommon these days to see young parents attending right brain training sessions with their infants. We are all doing the best things we could as parents!
We question the talents of our children but not the parenting skills of parents. I wonder how many of those parents who are so keen to discover if their children are gifted would be equally eager to find out if these children had gifted parents?
The fact is that gifted children begin with gifted parents. By that I do not mean parents who are exceptionally intelligent, highly educated, extremely successful, or even being gifted persons themselves. They may be any or all of these. But take heart, none is an essential component to be gifted parents.
We will be holding a series of workshops in the coming months that aim to empower young parents to become gifted parents – The Gifted Parents Workshops™. As the name suggests, the workshops will enable parents to learn what gifted parents had done or are doing to raise children who flourished brilliantly. So in contrast, parents will learn what they SHOULD NOT do.
These workshops aim to relay to parents on how their influence, expectation and perception of their child can profoundly affect the self-image, anxiety and confidence on their children’s performance, the pedagogical aspects of intellectual development of young children, how this intellectual development will affect the child’s academic work in the years to come, what preparation should parents do to give the child the confidence to deal with the stress of the heavy academic load, fun activities and puzzle games that can engage their children, and much more.
Join our parenting workshops to gain insightful tips!
