Clarify the information, conditions and goal before attempting the challenge.
High Ability Programme · Advanced Primary Learners
Guru Kids Pro helps strong primary learners develop reasoning, language and problem-solving skills for unfamiliar and more demanding questions.
Lessons combine advanced English, Mathematics and logic through guided practice, discussion and carefully selected challenges.
Going Beyond the Curriculum
Instead of relying only on memorised methods, students learn to recognise patterns, compare possibilities, make inferences and explain why an answer works.
The aim is to build stronger judgement, flexibility and independence across academic and reasoning tasks.
Students identify hidden rules, organise information and use evidence to reach well-supported conclusions.
Lessons develop precise vocabulary, deeper inference and the ability to interpret and communicate ideas clearly.
Students explore visual, spatial and multi-step problems that require more than applying a familiar formula.
More Than Harder Worksheets
High Ability learning should not mean giving a child more pages or simply moving to harder questions. Students need to learn how to analyse unfamiliar information, compare possibilities, test assumptions and explain why a conclusion is reasonable.
Our teachers make that reasoning process explicit so students become more flexible and independent when the answer is not immediately obvious.
Clarify the information, conditions and goal before attempting the challenge.
Recognise patterns, compare possibilities and form more than one possible approach.
Test a strategy systematically rather than guessing or relying on one memorised routine.
Justify the conclusion using evidence, relationships or logical reasoning.
Transfer the idea into a new context or a more complex version of the challenge.
Compare methods, identify inefficient thinking and consider whether a stronger solution exists.
Core Skills
Sample Questions
These examples require careful observation, deduction and the ability to test different possibilities.
Visual Reasoning
Move three matches to new positions to form exactly four squares. No matches may overlap or be left as loose ends.
Logical Deduction
Place the digits 1 to 9 in the 3 × 3 grid, using each digit once.
A star means that one of the listed digits must be placed in that square. A cross means that none of the listed digits can be placed in that square.
How Lessons Work
Teachers guide students to slow down, identify useful information, consider different strategies and justify their conclusions.
Mistakes are reviewed as part of the learning process, helping students refine both their method and explanation.
Lesson Components
Curriculum Leadership
Guru Kids Pro’s curriculum is led by Ms Katherine Law, an MOE-trained educator with a Master of Education in Gifted Education, a PGDE and more than 18 years of experience working with young learners.
Her experience across mainstream and high-ability learners informs how challenge is paced, how reasoning is scaffolded and when students are ready to move from guided practice to greater independence.
HAP Learning Resources
Our HAP practice materials provide additional challenges for children aged 7 to 12, with exercises in logic, language and mathematical reasoning.
Common Parent Questions
It is suitable for primary students who enjoy challenge, demonstrate strong curiosity or need more advanced work than routine classroom practice.
No. Students encounter demanding question styles, but the wider goal is to develop transferable reasoning and learning skills.
A trial class allows our teacher to observe your child’s approach, learning attitude and readiness before recommending a suitable class.
